PHOENIX--(BW HealthWire)--Dec. 14, 2000--e-dentist.com, Inc.
(AMEX:EDT) today announced that it expects to report earnings per
share in the range of $0.02 and $0.03 for the third quarter ending
December 31, 2000. The Company expects to report actual third quarter
results during the first full week in February.
The Company also announced the launch of its third-generation Web
site showcasing the quality of the Company's online products. The
Company's new Web site provides a forum for vendors to the dental
industry to both train their own sales force and train their dental
practice customers on the appropriate usage of their particular
products. In addition, it provides dentists and their staffs with
training and purchasing opportunities and information that in the past
has not been readily available. e-dentist.com is uniquely positioned
to take advantage of the increase in online learning business, which
is estimated to reach $22 billion by 2003, with a compounded annual
growth rate of 83% per year from now until 2003.
James M. Powers, Jr., D.D.S., president and chief executive
officer of e-dentist, said, "We have turned the corner and are moving
ahead with the implementation of our new business model. Our
e-business and online learning revenues are increasing, as evidenced
by a recently negotiated agreement under which e-dentist will create
an online interactive course with a national dental consulting firm.
The online course will be sold to the consulting firm's existing
national client base through an exclusive agreement with a prominent
dental vendor providing cosmetic products to the dental industry. Each
dental office wishing to use the cosmetic product will be able to take
the course online to pass the required certification exam."
The Company's e-business strategy employs a two-pronged approach
to providing services to the entire dental industry. The first
approach provides 150,000 dentists across the United States and their
staffs with access to e-dentist.com's e-learning, Dental Careers,
Practice Tools and a Shopping Engine (B2C), all designed to work in
conjunction with the Company's traditional practice enhancement
services. The second approach offers a comprehensive array of
e-learning services to vendors in the dental industry who provide
goods and services to dental offices (B2B). e-dentist's online
solutions enable dental vendors to provide both online training
internally to their sales force as well as training to their dental
practice customers concerning their products. The Company's
state-of-the-art synchronous (live) and asynchronous (self-paced)
content delivery solutions provide a suite of e-learning products that
are customized to suit individual learning needs.
e-dentist now processes nearly $20 million annually in online
payroll, making it the largest provider of online payroll processing
by an online dental portal. e-dentist's Internet-based payroll and
401(k) services are uniquely designed for the small business needs of
a dentist. Dentists can log on from home and do their payroll in just
minutes. In addition to basic payroll processing e-dentist offers
nationwide tax filing, electronic direct deposits and a web-enabled
comprehensive 401(k) retirement solution. Payroll processing online is
just one component of the Company's new e-business revenue model.
In closing, Dr. Powers added, "The demand for quality training via
the Internet is dramatically increasing, and no where is that need
more evident than in the dental industry. We are delighted to be able
to showcase the value-added services that are now available through
www.e-dentist.com."
